Three Brazilian States Are Auctioning Off Rights To Minerals Such As Kaolin

Brazil's Ministry of Energy and Mines announced that kaolin, copper and phosphate mining rights in three states will be auctioned on December 7, BNAmericas reported.

"The aim is to implement Brazil's mining development plan and to involve the private sector in mineral exploration and research," the ministry said in a news release.

The mining rights in the auction include:

★ Miriri phosphate mine on the coast of the states of Paraiba and Pernambuco, northeastern Brazil. According to the press release, a survey conducted by the Brazilian Geological Survey Agency (SGB-CPRM) indicated that the project's phosphate rock resources were 103 million tons.

The Cobre de Bom Jardim copper mine is located in the central western state of Goyas. The project covers an area of 1,000 hectares and has an estimated ore resource of 4.5 million tons.

The Caulim no Rio Capim mine is located in the northern state of Para. It covers an area of 10,000 hectares and consists of two areas: North and south. The northern block has an estimated mineral resource of 574 million tons and the southern block is estimated at 218 million tons.
